Ever dreamed of moving to an idyllic seaside property in the French Celtic region called “La Bretagne”?
Welcome to Ty Ar Mor which means the Sea House!
With the port of Brest and the sea but a stone’s throw away from the lengthy back garden this is the ideal family home or holiday retreat for any sea-loving family.
The previous owners of this unique home have enjoyed 31 long, happy years raising children, sailing, and hosting their children’s windsurfing friends.
At the bottom of the garden lays a surf shack. A better way to describe it, however, would be a standalone, two story, two bedroom beach house with its own decked porch. An excellent place to let the children unwind, a place to host guests and allow them their own privacy, or simply just a summer house to stay in the shade. The shack is fully plumbed and electrically fitted. It has enough space within to house double beds on the top and bottom floors alike, a ladder simply separating the two, giving it a warm, cosy cabin-esque feel in the mild Armor winter.
Back in the garden, facing the house, there’s a small garage to the right; ideal for housing boating, sailing, or perhaps biking equipment. Between the back of the house and the large expanse of grass that is the lawn, there’s a beautifully tiled patio area to entertain in the evening or serve breakfast upon on a balmy morning. A decked area to the far left at the back may serve a similar purpose or be the perfect place to fire up the grill for your summer BBQs!
By now you must be itching to get inside ‘Ty Ar Mor’!
First, you’ll appreciate the rich wooden fascia surrounding huge floor to ceiling glass doors. Step through them into a wondrously airy and light kitchen with plenty of space to breathe.
The central island is clearly the focal point of the kitchen and can clearly be seen as the social hive for any gathering. Fully fitted with all the mod cons one could hope for, this kitchen is as practical as it is stylish. Storage space can be found at your knees leaving the walls open, adding to the clean aesthetic along with the large windows taking up three of the four sides of the room. Not forgetting the skylights above. This lovely modern kitchen even has enough room to house a large dining table off to the side.
Take one of two doorways and you find yourself in a lovely spacious living room. The living room maintains it’s Brittany roots with a wonderful stone fireplace and rustic wooden surround, modernised with a fantastic wood burning stove. The flooring in this room is also to be admired. Light, authentic tiling gives this room it’s villa-esque feeling, reminding you that the rolling waves of the sea are not too far away. Well lit and certainly spacious, many days and nights will easily be lost in this room to the French lifestyle of wine and love…
An office lays through a small doorway under the staircase, but this could very easily be a secondary sitting room! It’s certainly large enough!
Beyond the staircase onto the second floor, you will find two similarly sized double bedrooms. They’re perfect for children, guests or whomever you desire to share your space! Both share the same wood panelled ceiling and laminated flooring, but one contains a wood panelled wall that creates a superb beach hut feel to it.
Above these, in the loft, there is more than enough space to perhaps create another bedroom? A games room? We’ll let you decide! It is certainly not short on space though, with plenty of natural light breaking through the windows which are set into the sloping roof of the seaside haven.
Back down the stairs that lead directly into the loft and down the hall into the master bedroom…
The first thing you will notice is the doors! Throw them open, stand on the balcony and you don’t even have to look to find the sea lain before you. What a view to behold, the Celtic sea lapping at your doorstep! The inside of the room is not to be ignored either.. Sumptuous uplighting on the walls frames the headboard of what could be a super king sized bed pushed against the feature wall. Imagine laying in bed opening the curtains by remote to stare into the deep blue.
After a long day of enjoying your new home, chatting with friends in the living room, baking in the kitchen, entertaining on the patio, you may want to unwind in the huge bathtub in the ensuite. You have a choice of a shower too, but the bath seems right. We’ll leave you to unwind…
