Welcome to Cloudy Bay – A treasure by the sea

This Edwardian townhouse by the sea, in walking distance of the beach and many local amenities, is one of those that instantly captivates you.

From the large entrance, you step into the lounge, with a deep red feature wall that complements the carefully chosen furniture and furnishings. You can just imagine where you would place the Christmas tree, how you could snuggle in front of the fire on a winter’s eve, and all the time you would enjoy spending in this room. But like us, your eye will be eagerly drawn to the parquet flooring, a feature which is synonymous with the Edwardian period, and dominates the ground floor of this beautiful property.

Edwardian heart blessed with Art Nouveau

Wandering through the rest of the house, many tiny touches will catch your attention, such as the door handles and door plates. They are all of the period and were found by the owner in an antiques store in Chelsea. Then there is the Rennie Mackintosh inspired handles on the handmade kitchen cupboards.

Always described as the heart of the home, this kitchen and dining space is certainly where your family will spend most of their time. It has such a wonderful feel, you can see yourself having breakfast whilst looking out onto the garden or maybe you are entertaining friends during a warm summer evening with a glass of your favorite Cloudy Bay.

Step outside and you will find this enclosed garden as an extension for more social gatherings or just chilling out, it is the perfect size!

Timeless Bliss

It is said that Cloudy Bay was once owned by two ladies who used to rent out rooms to Honeymoon couples. Every home is filled with stories of those that have lived there before, and it’s memories like those that make a property feel like a home.

Ascend the period staircase and discover the 3 main bedrooms, including the master suite and a separate bathroom. The master suite with a wall of windows that hits you as you enter and the endless light flowing offers such an idyllic romantic setting where the honeymoon period never ends. Its neutral decor just adds to the elegance of this room and you may be surprised to discover that you also have a lovely en-suite. Turn the night into day, love is light!

The second bedroom provides an equally lovely space with its full length windows that open to create a balcony with a peaceful garden view.

Along the first floor landing are the family bathroom, perfect if you like to take a long soaking bath in this striking copper bath tub, close your eyes and relax.

Ascend to the Night Stars

This rare Frinton-on-Sea townhouse offers a further 3 cosy bedrooms under the stars, the sloping roof, tall windows and skylights ensure that light floods every space. You can picture yourself lying there listening to the rain falling on the window as you drift off to sleep or maybe as a star gazer you will lose yourself dreaming in the sparkled night.

Property Options

This Edwardian townhouse by the sea is between the famous “gates” and the sandy beach of Frinton-on-Sea, close to the unique ” Connaught Avenue” where you will find unique boutiques and restaurants for your own guilty pleasures.

Frinton-on-Sea was first referenced in the Doomsday book of 1086, appearing as “Frientuna”. Until late Victorian times Frinton was just a church, several farms and a few cottages. It was then developed as a fashionable seaside resort, attracting visitors from high society, such as the Prince of Wales who frequented the golf club and Churchill who rented a house. No wonder Frinton-on-Sea feels a bit like a Chelsea by the sea as Connaught Avenue, named after the Duke of Connaught, was quickly known and appreciated as the Bond Street of East Anglia. With its air of serenity and communal pride, the town’s genteel nature continues to prevail “inside the gates” today. Even the Tennis Club feels like a mini Wimbledon with the so many manicured grass courts, in fact it was world famous during Edwardian England as next to Wimbledon, Frinton was regarded as the major venue on the tennis calendar and a social standing on par with Henley and Ascot. Maybe you are rightly drawn to the wonderful sandy beaches and the long walks offered along this sunny Esplanade or should you wish to explore the water sports, Frinton-on-Sea has it all!

Do no miss the evening entertainments at the fabulous Frinton summer theatre where the productions are attracting raving national reviews.

Frinton-on-Sea is indeed the pearl of Essex and managed to retain a timeless atmosphere of tranquility which makes it a happy place to live everyday or just as a weekend retreat.
