Frinton-on-Sea was first referenced in the Doomsday book of 1086, appearing as “Frientuna”. Until late Victorian times Frinton was just a church, several farms and a few cottages. It was then developed as a fashionable seaside resort, attracting visitors from high society, such as the Prince of Wales who frequented the golf club and Churchill who rented a house. No wonder Frinton-on-Sea feels a bit like a Chelsea by the sea as Connaught Avenue, named after the Duke of Connaught, was quickly known and appreciated as the Bond Street of East Anglia.
