Property Options

Point clear is a village situated on the South west of St-Osyth. The estuary of the river colne to the South is sheltered by the “ray creek”, a sought after spot for windsurfers searching flat waters. It is a popular location for holiday homes.

The village is steeped in history with other listed buildings including a prominent 12th century Priory set in grounds.  The Domesday book of 1086 records a thriving settlement at St Osyth with the presence of :- a mill, location unknown but probably alongside the Creek. In medieval times St Osyth Augustine Priory was founded (believed to be 1121) and became an abbey around 1200. The Priory, the Creek, and the former Market Place are the historic features of the settlement of St Osyth, together with St Osyth Fair which is believed to have taken place on the Bury.

St Osyth is about 15 minutes drive to Clacton-on-Sea where there is a direct rail connection to London, and is about 30 minutes drive to Colchester where trains are available for connection to London, Ipswich, Norwich.

St Osyth has the following facilities:- Primary School, 2 Grocery stores, good butcher, Post Office facility, Café, Boots the Chemist, Hairdresser, Estate Agent, Accountancy Practice, Fish and Chip shop, Chinese Takeaway, Indian restaurant, 2 Public houses, Church, Social Club, Village Hall. The Mill Dam Lake is a new exciting Venture comprising a Wake Board Park this consists of two Zip wires which pull Wake Boarders back and forward across the lake and if they so wish over a variety of up and over jumps. All equipment is available to hire together with tuition. As well as this the Park caters for a small Aqua Park, kayaking, stand up boarding, swimming, café and viewing terrace.

There are some outstanding walks in this area You can walk alongside St Osyth Creek to Brightlingsea Creek and take a ferry to Brightlingsea where there is a big sailing community with moorings available and water available at most times of the day, or East Mersea, or Wivenhoe. Alternatively there is a walk to Lee Wick Nature Reserve overlooking the sea.
