The village is steeped in history with other listed buildings including a prominent 12th century Priory set in grounds.  The Domesday book of 1086 records a thriving settlement at St Osyth with the presence of :- a mill, location unknown but probably alongside the Creek. In medieval times St Osyth Augustine Priory was founded (believed to be 1121) and became an abbey around 1200. The Priory, the Creek, and the former Market Place are the historic features of the settlement of St Osyth, together with St Osyth Fair which is believed to have taken place on the Bury.

The Mill Dam Lake is a new exciting Venture comprising a Wake Board Park this consists of two Zip wires which pull Wake Boarders back and forward across the lake and if they so wish over a variety of up and over jumps. All equipment is available to hire together with tuition. As well as this the Park caters for a small Aqua Park, kayaking, stand up boarding, swimming, café and viewing terrace.
